Royal Dutch Shell Wants to Invest in Innovation Starved Iran

[Dow Jones] Royal Dutch Shell (RDSA.LN) will consider investing in opportunities in Iran, chief executive Ben van Beurden says. "We know that the Iranian oil and gas industry has been starved a little bit of technological innovation of the highest order; that's what companies like ours can bring," he says on the sidelines of a liquefied natural gas conference in Australia. "But we also know that the Iranian counterparties that we'd have to do business with are formidable negotiators." He adds the company doesn't yet know what kind of terms and conditions Iran might offer. He adds that, while Shell will look at opportunities in the country, they will have to compete with the company's "opportunity suite."
