Zanganeh Mulls $40/bl Oil Price for Iran Budget
Iranian oil minister Bijan Zanganeh says Iran may assume an oil price of around $40 per barrel for Iran's fiscal budget, state-owned oil news service Shana reports. The Iranian financial year begins in March. President Rouhani's government is pushing its tax system to mitigate against revenue lost from falling oil prices. The country earned more in tax than oil for the first time in over 45 years in 2015, according to a spokesman from National Iranian Oil Company. But Iran still forecasts around one third of the budget to derive from oil sales. Iran plans on releasing around 500,000 barrels into the market once sanctions limiting exports are lifted.
