Norway's Oil Companies Expect to Invest 11% Less in 2015 -Survey
By Kjetil Malkenes Hovland
OSLO--Oil companies operating in Norway expect investments to decline in 2015 and 2016, an official survey showed Friday, as lower crude prices help discourage spending that hit an all-time high last year.
A Statistics Norway survey found that exploration and production spending is expected to drop 11% on year to 190.1 billion Norwegian kroner ($24.48 billion) in 2015, and a further 3% to NOK184.9 billion in 2016.
Investment in the world's 10th-largest oil-exporting country hit a record NOK214.3 billion in 2014 after a strong rise in spending since 2010. Norway's oil sector has roughly tripled spending in the past decade, as high and stable oil prices triggered the development of previously unprofitable projects, and costs were boosted by capacity constraints in the global oil-field services industry.
