OPEC Deal to Cut Oil Production Should Help Indian Refiners
[Dow Jones] Indian auto fuel prices could rise in the next three to four months following OPEC's agreement to slash oil output, says Crisil, the Indian unit of S&P. It expects the price of petrol to rise 5%-8% and that of diesel by 6%-8%. Rising crude prices also means the profitability of state-run refiners will improve in the third quarter of the current fiscal thanks to the increased value of inventory. Refiners typically book crude 30-40 days in advance. This inventory gain will boost gross refining margins of refiners in the third quarter to $6-$7 per barrel from $3.8 in the second quarter, Crisil says.
