Oil Markets Near Balancing Point, Says Goldman Sachs
The continued disruptions in supply from major oil producers, such as Canada and Nigeria, mean the global oil markets are close to being in balance, says Goldman Sachs. In a note, the bank's macro research unit says that the situation has surprised the oil markets sending them from near storage saturation point to being in deficit. However, the bank has not shed all of its famously bearish position on oil, stating that low-cost oil producers will probably send the market back into surplus again by the end of the year, meaning inventories will be slow to clear completely.
