Global Oil Demand is Decelerating
Global oil demand is decelerating, but not collapsing, Morgan Stanley says, in a note to clients. The bank predicts demand growth will fall to 0.8 million barrels a day this year. Early 2016 data reinforce signs of deceleration in demand growth, but not a collapse or recession: In January, transport demand in Asia remained fairly robust (India, Korea) while Latin American growth looks weaker. "The challenge is that even if growth stabilizes, a more modest trend ultimately delays recovery [of the oil market]," Morgan Stanley says.
