Delay In Iran Sanctions Could Support Oil Prices
Tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran will only impact oil prices if the situation leads to a delay in the resumption of Iranian oil exports, according to Bjarne Schieldrop from Sweden's SEB Markets Merchant Banking. The analyst says the execution of Saudi Arabian Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr has come at a time when the lifting of Iranian economic sanctions is imminent. Iran expects international sanctions to be lifted in January and has stated it will be offering at least 500,000 extra barrels a day of crude for sale, adding more crude oil to the market at a time when prices are already at 11-year lows due to the glut.
