Middle Eastern Oil Exporters Losing Market Share in China
[Dow Jones] Additional crude supply from the eastern part of block of countries formerly part of the Soviet Union will likely threaten Middle Eastern suppliers' share of key Chinese market, says consultancy group JBC Energy. The firm says that since 2011, imports to China from the Eastern region of the former Soviet Union (FSU East) have grown by 30%, resulting in a 2% jump in market share. African suppliers took the biggest hit--their Chinese market share declined 5%. "Going forward, an additional influx from FSU East exporters, however, will mostly result in a crowding out of Middle Eastern market share, as we see African imports stabilizing," says the group.
