PetroVietnam Wants to Restart Oil Project in Iran
[Dow Jones] Vietnam Oil & Gas Group, or Petrovietnam, is seeking to revive its oil exploration project in Iran after most economic sanctions against Tehran were lifted recently. PetroVietnam this week asked the Iran government to renegotiate the terms of a contract it signed earlier with Iran to explore an oil block in Iran, PetroVietnam said. PetroVietnam wants Iran to extend the exploration period by five years, allowing Vietnamese firms to provide services to the project and use other currencies for the project, instead of the U.S. dollars. PetroVietnam started exploration works at the block in 2008 but its activities came to a halt in 2010.
