DJ IEA Forecasts Weak 4Q Oil Demand Growth
Global oil demand growth will hit 1.8 million barrels a day in 2015, a five-year high, but has stalled in the fourth quarter according to the Paris-based International Energy Agency. In its monthly newsletter, the monitor says third-quarter growth peaked at 2.2 million b/d, but fourth quarter growth is expected to fall back to 2015 year-on-year lows of 1.3 million b/d. The IEA warns that this could be an indicator that post-recessionary bounces in Europe and the U.S. are coming to an end. The watchdog has forecast oil demand growth of 1.2 million b/d in 2016.
