Big Oil Can Now See The Light
Big oil isn't out of the woods yet, but they are making a good effort to do so. Shares in the world's largest oil companies are up by an average of 15%-20% from their late-September lows following an uptick in the oil price, says HSBC, which adds that their efforts to cut costs and live within their means within the next couple of years look impressive. The bank warns, though, that it is too early to expect a material upturn for the sector. "After the recent recovery, we would not be surprised if sector performance stalled in the short term -- even though we think there's good medium-term upside," it says.
