Oil Glut Seen Abating in 2015
[Dow Jones]--The oil market, plagued by oversupply last year, will see some reprieve this year but prices will remain low, says Wood Mackenzie, a consultancy group. It forecasts growth in non-OPEC oil output to slow down to 1 million barrels a day this year from 2.2 million last year, while OPEC will maintain its production levels. Looking at demand, Wood Mackenzie sees a pick-up in growth in 2015 of 1.2 million barrels a day boosted by the effect of low prices on oil demand, in the U.S. in particular. Wood Mackenzie sees Brent averaging $60 a barrel this year and $70 a barrel in 2016. Brent is trading at $63.28 on Thursday.
