DJ India to Invest $6 Billion by 2019 in Mozambique Oil Field: Minister
By R. Jai Krishna
NEW DELHI--India will invest $6 billion by 2019 to develop an oil field in Mozambique, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said Monday.
The investment will be in an oilfield operated by U.S.-based Anadarko Petroleum Corp. Three Indian state-run energy companies own a combined 30% stake in the oilfield.
The minister didn't elaborate who would make the investment.
Indian state-run energy companies have been looking to buy stakes in oil and gas assets overseas to meet rising energy needs back home. India meets three-fourths of its energy needs through imports.
